Studio Me Dope: Mary J Blige In The Lab With Pharrell

“The Queen of Hip-Hop and R&B” Mary J Blige was recently in the studio with super producer Pharrell Williams. MJB is gearing up to release her forthcoming LP My Life II: The Journey Continues. This is the follow-up to Blige’s last album Stronger With Each Tear, which debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 332,000 copies. Blige took to her official Twitter account @maryjblige and tweeted, ”In the studio With @4real4rell It’s magical.”

All nine of Blige’s albums debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard 200. As of 2010, Blige has sold over 50 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide.

Celebs Style: Rappers Wearing BBC & Ice Cream [WHO ROCKED IT THE BEST]?

“When I wear Billionaires Boys Club, it’s more than gear/ I don’t wear it cause Pharrell, I wear it cause I’m fo real,” says Jay-Z. In 2005 Pharrell Williams, along with his manager Robert Walker partnered with Japanese designer Nigo to collaborate and release a line which was soon called BBC and Ice cream. The lines consist of T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, denim, shirts; and outerwear. I came up with a list of five artists wearing BBC and Ice Cream. Peep the list and vote who rocked it best below:

Lil Wayne was spotted in LA, sitting court side  at the Staples Center to watch the New Orleans Hornets Vs. Los Angeles Lakers game. Weezy was styling on them lames in a $253 Billionaire Boys Club logo pullover hoodie, a pair of  Marc by Marc Jacobs camo cargo shorts, with a $995 pair of Christian Louboutin Louis Flat Spike sneakers.

The talented Chris Brown was spotted in Los Angeles, visiting the “Art in the Streets” exhibition at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Breezy was styling on them lames in a $154 black BBC Ice Cream “Three Servings” crew-neck sweatshirt.

Interview: Big Sean Talks About Getting Signed, Being Broke, Building His Buzz & Fashion

Complex magazine caught up with G.O.O.D. Music rapper Big Sean. The rapper is Finally Famous after releasing a sequel of mixtapes and a debut album; which debuted in the top 5 on Billboard 200. So far, Sean’s album Finally Famous: The Album  has sold over 150,000 copies worldwide. Sean is also touring with Wiz Khalifa. In the August/September issue of Complex, Sean talked about getting signed, being broke, building his buzz and fashion. Below are some excerpts:

What was it like after you got signed? When you couldn’t even get a job in the mall?

Those were like the worst times of my life. I turned down all my scholarships to school. People thought that I was signed to Kanye, but I wasn’t. I got signed when in 2008, but I met him in 2006. Kanye said he wanted to sign me, but that shit took over a year and a half.

It was even a long process after I got signed because I got signed strictly off talent and not buzz. And he’s on tour and doing all this shit after he told me he wanted to sign me and I’m at home in the hood living with my mom and being broke as fuck.

I was spending my last money on studio sessions. I didn’t have having money for shit, [I was living] bummy as hell trying to put stuff together. But those times taught me so much and made me appreciate these times so much more. I made a lot of good music at that time. Those times are important in life.

They Gets Busy: 50 Cent & Floyd Mayweather Involved In Strip Hop Brawl Over A Chain That Was Almost Taken

According to Boxing.com, rapper 50 Cent and boxer Floyd Mayweather were involved in a brawl over a diamond chain that was almost taken. West coast rapper Nipsey Hu$$le was on stage performing and someone rush the stage and tried to snatch his chain, but it didn’t go down like that. Instead of the person taking Hu$$le chain, he caught a beat down. Below is how Boxing.com is reporting the story:

Thirty Las Vegas Metro Police were summoned to try to contain a fight that broke out at the Deja Vu Strip Hop Topless Party a few days ago. Among the dozens of men and women involved in the brawl were Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the rapper 50 Cent.

The police report obtained by KTNV-TV in Las Vegas alleges that Mayweather was not only present, but that he “was extremely confrontational and argumentative with several police officers on scene.” Floyd also allegedly “challenged multiple citizens and officers to fight.”

Everything was apparently rosy until some fans rushed the stage and tried to steal the necklace of rapper Nipsey Hussle. It was then that the violence broke out. Although only a handful of people were arrested—Floyd and 50 Cent were not among them—the police report stated that those arrested had ties to the either the Bloods or Crips.

Star Power, Mayweather’s return to action after a long layoff, is slated for Sept. 17. Maybe Mayweather isn’t taking his opponent, Victor Ortiz, as seriously as he says.

Out & About: Kelly Rowland And Ciara Making Their Round In NYC

Singer Kelly Rowland was recently spotted outside NBC studios in New York City. The international R&B diva was styling on them lames in a $1,120 pair of Lanvin Escarpin snake-print wedges. Rowland’s new album Here I Am is now in stores and online. The disc debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200; selling over 77,000 copies in the first week.

This past Thursday (August 4) Ciara  performed at Beekman’s Beer Garden at the South Street Seaport in New York City for Malibu Rum’s beach-themed Station Invasion Concert Tour. Ci Ci opened up her set with her single “Get Up.” She also performed some of her most popular hits such as “Goodies,” “Ride,” and “Oh.” Peep Ci Ci Christian Louboutin pumps.

There’s No Beef: Drake Clears Up Big Sean Rumors

This past Thursday (August 4) rapper Drake performed at Windsor’s Collosseum at Caesars Windsor in Canada. During his set, Drizzy decided to clear-up the rumors about him having beef with Big Sean.

“I don’t know what the f*ck is going on, you know what I am saying. My first show ever I shared the stage with this kid, this dude I have a lot of respect for. I’ma say this right now in front of all my Detroit people man. I’ma let you know Big Sean, you my n*gga man, for real on everything man. If I got to tell you this way, I tell you this way. I don’t want to make people make sh*t what it isn’t, man that’s my n*gga I got the utmost respect for him. I love Detroit”

The feud all stem from when Drake tweeted a subliminal jab at Big Sean, “Damn I just took the beard down and realized I’m still the same age as ya’ll boys…447,000 first week off MY flows. See you in the fall.” I guess Big Sean wasn’t feeling Drake’s subliminal and replied. Big Sean was featured on a DJ Drama record “Oh My” and rapped the line, “Hear you taking shots now, What The F*ck is you sippin’” which many thought was directed at Drake.
