Fall/Winter 2011: Carmelo Anthony Launches Jordan Melo M8 With Special Guest Jadakiss

Yesterday Wednesday (October 12), Brooklyn’s native and New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony released his official Melo M8 at Harlem’s House of Hoops, with special guest Jadakiss.

“This time, I dedicated the shoe to my game,” Anthony explained. “The way I start, the way I stop — playing strong and powerful. I’m in there for the design from day one.”

“This is a shoe New York could be proud of,” Anthony said. “This is the first signature sneaker for this city since Patrick Ewing. The sneaker represents something bigger than myself.”

The Melo M8 represents the “Fly Through” portion of Jordan Brand’s fresh campaign – including “Fly Around” for Chris Paul’s CP3.V and “Fly Over” for Dwyane Wade’s Fly Wade 2 – and is the first of the new models to hit the market with a $135 price tag.

From Harlem To Hollywood: Cam’ron Launches Production Company With Queen Latifah

According  to popular site AllHipHop.com, Harlem’s rapper and actor Cam’ron has formed a new joint venture with Queen Latifah and business partner Shakim Compere, that will produce a new flick starring the Harlem, New York, rapper. Below is how AllHipHop is reporting the story:

The new company, name KFU Productions, is a new joint venture between Cam and his longtime partner Jacob York’s Killa Films and Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Films.

The two companies have joined forces to produce a new movie titled “Percentages” that will feature Cam’ron in the starring role.

The movie centers around two New York hustlers on the run from a drug deal gone bad.

“Ant” and “Carter” move south to Miami. The pair are not content to lay low with family, so the long time partners quickly build a new empire in the world of credit fraud.

As the business grows, so does the unwanted attention from law enforcement and Miami’s most notorious criminals.

“Cam did the story, and then we brought in a writer to really tighten the script,” Jacob York told AllHipHop.com. “The movie was originally supposed to be the follow up to Killa Season, but we decided to make a brand new movie since the script was so good.”

Cam has the lead role in “Percentages,” which also boasts a number of high-profile co-stars, including Ving Rhames, Macy Gray, Donnell Rawlings, Melinda Williams, K.D. Aubert, Omar Gooding, Robert Wisdom, and others.

The movie is being shot on location predominantly in Miami, as well New York, where Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere recently relocated their Flavor Unit company.

“Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere have a soundstage here in Miami and this is first film that they are developing on the new soundstage, in conjunction with the KFU Production company,” Jacob York told AllHipHop.com. “Our aim is to develop high quality film projects over the next 24 months.”

Additionally, Cam’ron will create and oversee the soundtrack to “Percentages,” which is slated for a nationwide theatrical in 2012.

Styling On Them Hoes: Ciara All Glammed-Up In A Fitted Skirt & Silk Top

Last night Wednesday (October 12), the talented Ciara was spotted at actress and philanthropist Charlize Theron’s photos exhibition for Reach with proceeds from the event benefiting Charlize’s African Outreach program, in Century City, California. The organization is committed to reducing HIV/Aids as well as violence among African youth. Ciara was all glammed-up in a fitted skirt and  silk top. L.A. Reid recently announced that Ciara is headed to Epic Records under his guidance.

There’s No Beef: Drake Speaks On Wayne’s Jay-Z Diss & Pusha T Jab

This evening,YMCMB rapper Drake stopped by New York’s DJ Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 radio show to premiere his new track “Make Me Proud” Ft. Nicki Minaj. While on air, Funk Flex asked Drizzy about Lil Wayne’s Jay-Z diss track, “It’s Good.”

“I really just did my verse over the beat man,” he said about the track. “I’m not gonna say I didn’t hear the song before it came out. Wayne recently said in an article that ‘I can never feel like I created a monster in Drake because I’m his boss.’ And in every regard that’s a respectable comment. I’m a soldier for Wayne, he put me here, So I just really did what I had to do, which was deliver a verse on a beat and what he does with the song after that is completely up to him.”

“I think that you know, it’s silly to say well the initial jab wasn’t a jab,” Drizzy said about Jay-Z’s line about Baby on “H*A*M.” “It’s silly to say that that initial comment wasn’t completely directed at that situation and I think that Wayne who often is never afraid to step up to the plate did what he did back. And I think that’s what hip-hop is about. And I got the utmost respect for Jay, I mean I’m not really involved in that situation. He’s knows he’s been a great mentor in my career and of course Wayne is a brother to me so I feel pretty great man,” added Drake

As far as Pusha T subliminal directed toward Drizzy on “Don’t Fuck With Me,” Drake said he wasn’t offended.

“I listened to it and I just couldn’t pick it out,” he said referring to the believed diss. “I couldn’t pick out where I was supposed to be offended.”

“First of all I never really had any interaction with Pusha T so for him to diss me would be purely issues that he’s having within himself,” he added. “We’ve met but we’ve been just always codial with each other. I’m a fan of the Clipse. I say it in interviews so I never really had an issue with him but you know it’s a frustrating time for a lot of people right now, I get it, so if it was directed at me just make it a lil’ more direct next time. You know, I’m up for whatever man. I didn’t take offense to it though.”

Put The Glass In The Air, It’s A Celebration: Lala Celebrates Her Broadway Debut “Love, Loss & What I Wore”

Media personality and actress LaLa Vazquez-Anthony recently celebrated her theatrical debut in the off-Broadway play “Love, Loss and What I Wore” based on the novel by the same name.

NecoleBitchie had the chance to speak with Melo’s wife the other night as she celebrated her Broadway debut at a private gathering sponsored by X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. The event took place at swank 48 Lounge in Manhattan. Below are some excerpts:

First off, congrats! The Play is wonderful. Why did you choose this material to make your theatrical debut?

I really loved this play. And SO many great women have taken it on before me – Tony winners, Emmy winners, amazing actresses – so I was honored to be given the opportunity.

The play is a series of monologues – and you play dozens of different characters – which was your favorite?

I loved all of them! I get to play so many different roles – from a gang leaders sweetheart, to an engaged lesbian. I think that role (the lesbian) hit closest home for me, because some of my closest friends are gay and I see what they deal with when it comes to wanting to get married. And it’s a cause near and dear to my heart, so I think I appreciate that monologue the most…Oh! Also the shoes. I basically talk about how my feet always hurt, which is true. I love shoes but I tell everyone, my feet constantly hurt. I don’t one comfortable pair.

LaLa’s Full Court Life, will there be a season 2?

You know, there have been some very early talks. I’m actually surprised that people are as interested in my life as they are. To me it’s just so everyday. But I appreciate that we’ve found an audience and I think my family and I will evaluate where we are and if that’s something we’d like to continue doing. But I’m just grateful to perhaps even have the option.

Magazine Cover: Nas Celebrates 20 Years In Hip-Hop, Interviewed by Tyler, The Creator For XXL November Issue

Celebrating 20 years in the music industry, Queens rapper Nas is gracing the November issue of XXL magazine. The publication recruited Odd Future’s leader Tyler, the Creator, who’s a longtime Nas fan, to interview the platinum-selling rapper. Nasty Nas is gearing up for the release of his 10th solo album, entitled Life Is Good. 2 Chainz, Yelawolf and Styles P are also featured in the November issue. XXL’s November issue, hitting newsstands nationwide on October 25. Below are some excerpts:

“God’s Son is my favorite album by you,” Tyler said. “And my second is probably Street’s Disciple,” he continued.

“Get the fuck outta here,” Nas responded.

Awkward and quirky exchanges aside, the discussion quickly picked up with the 20-year-old Tyler asking Nas for advice.

“You, Em, Jay, Snoop, like, you guys all started when you was exactly my age,” Tyler said. “The fact that you guys are still here makes me just always think, like, Fuck, could I?”

“Oh, you definitely can,” Nas replied. “Someone like you is, you’re interesting, for a lot of reasons. So someone like you, you can’t wait to see what’s next.”

And the topics continued to get deeper as the conversation went on.

“Are you, like—this question might catch you off guard, but I ask myself this—like, when you wake up, like, are you happy,” Tyler asked. “Like, are you satisfied how everything turned out?”

“Dawg, I was naming my album Life Is Good because of how happy I am about how happy things have turned out,” Nas answered. “Sometimes I may wake up and wish my kids were living with me. That’s the only thing, you know what I mean? Our loved ones that are not around no more, like my mom. That’s the only thing. But other than that, everything is great, even when I’m alone. Even when there’s no one around.”
