Fashionable NBA player Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks is set to launch his new Melo M9 ‘Christmas Colorway’ sneakers on January 9. The designs from these kicks were inspired by Melo’s luxury watches. “I love the movement inside Tourbillon Watches,” Anthony said. “It’s just beautiful, so I wanted to incorporate that into the design of the shoe.” The M9 features a full 3M reflective grey upper with all-over elephant print detailing, green and red pull-tabs and ribbon-like cables in the upper, which are part of the newly developed “dynamic system” by Jordan Brand.
Melo’s will debut the M9 (his signature shoe) Tuesday December 25th (Christmas Day), during the Knicks vs. Lakers game. Below Melo talks about his earliest basketball memory, luxury watches, hidden talents and favorite vacation spot:
Earliest basketball memory: “Watching the 1992 Dream Team changed my mindset about the game. I really started loving and enjoying basketball after that.”
I’m addicted to: Tourbillon watches. “My watch game is mean — just look at my Instagram.”
Hidden talent: “I like to draw.”
Favorite pair of sneakers: “I’ve got boatloads of shoes, but I’d have to say the Air Jordan IX.”
Perfect getaway spot: Koh Samui, Thailand. “I went this summer and it was a good time.”
