“We’re blessed that we were able to extend our family,” Amar’e told People.Com exclusively. He then added, “We’re both huge on having a nice size family. It was something we’ve been talking about for a while. It happened naturally and at the right time so it all worked out.” “It was just perfect timing,” adds Alexis, who says she’s had some morning sickness but overall, “can’t complain!”
Amar’e and Alexis who already have three kids together — Ar’e, 7,Amar’e Jr., 6, and Assata, 4 say everyone is excited.
“They’re very, very excited,” says Alexis. “They just keep guessing if it’s a boy or a girl.” And it won’t be long before the sex is revealed, “I can’t wait to know what it is,” says Amar’e. “As soon as Amar’e walks into the door those kids are all over him,” says Alexis with a laugh. “He’s like a big kid. He’s a great dad.”

A BIG congrats is in order for New York Knicks player Amar’e Stoudemire who popped the question to his girlfriend of 10 years and the mother of his three children, Alexis Welch. While in Paris Amar’e proposed to Alexis with a nice million dollar engagement ring and uber romantic proposal.
According to People.com “Stoudemire asked Welch for her hand in marriage while overlooking the Eiffel Tower lights outside of their penthouse at Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile Royal Suite at 11 p.m. local time. He surprised her with a dinner after they spent the day taking a private historical tour of Paris that included stops at the Louvre and other landmarks.”
“I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place. I am so happy she said ‘yes,’ and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife,” Stoudemire told PEOPLE from Paris.
“Stoudemire designed the 8.5-carat radiant-cut ring, worth more than $1 million, with Los Angeles-based celebrity jeweler Shayan Afshar. The setting has 3.50 carats of flawless diamonds set in 18-carat white gold. The couple met in 2002 after Stoudemire was drafted with the Phoenix Suns. They plan to wed in 2013.”
