There aren’t too many reality stars that actually capitalize off the show and turn their 15 minutes of fame into a multi-million empire. Well, Nene Leakes of Real Housewives Of Atlanta did. The outspoken reality superstar turned business mogul has an empire which includes real estate, a restaurant and shoe line. Nene is more than just reality TV. She also has a recurring role on Fox’s Glee and a regular role on NBC series, The Normal. It is quite obvious that Nene is a brand! The very stylish “glam-mother” recently sat down with Katie Couric for an interview. Check out what she had to say below:
On finding her new reality difficult to fathom at times:
“You know, when you’re working and you’re doing stuff over and over and over again, you hardly get a chance to sit a chance to sit and be like ‘Oh, thank you Jesus,” because you’re going from one thing, to the next, to the next. But, I do have those moments where I’m home and I’m like ‘I cannot believe my life,’ like I went from there to there all in a second.”
On why she’s the last original housewife on the show:
“Many didn’t have their options picked up again… When people watch the show, they only see what’s happening on the show, so they don’t they don’t really get to see what’s going on behind the scenes. There’s a lot of things that are happening behind the scenes and the only thing that I can say is that it was meant to be and those girls that left, they deserved to go… A piece of me feels bad when each girl leaves the show.”
On why the Bravo franchise’s Atlanta spin-off is so successful:
“Well we’re Atlanta girls. We’re the Georgia peaches and we are the only brown girls in the franchise so we are veryyyy different.”
On divorcing and remarrying Greg:
“I’m very excited about it [remarrying]. That [the divorce] was to teach Greg a lesson… I think he learned something. Today, a lot of women let men do things that they shouldn’t let them do.”
