RHOA Reality Star Cynthia Bailey Covers Rolling Out & Sets the Record Straight

Real House Wives Of Atlanta reality star Cynthia Bailey is covering the latest edition of Rolling Out Magazine. Inside, Cynthia speaks on being vulnerable, looking good at 45 and feeling good about the future. Below is an excerpt and some highlights.

There was a moment — a clearly unforgettable one — when it all began to make sense. For two-plus seasons I casually observed Cynthia Bailey as a cast member of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and there was just something about her that I couldn’t quite come to terms with. It wasn’t a dislike of any kind … it was more like one of those grammar school equations of the “which one doesn’t fit” variety. For whatever reason, whenever I saw her on screen, or heard her name brought up in casual conversation, that same feeling would return…

On being vulnerable:

In photo shoots, I can give you vulnerable all day But I can’t afford to be vulnerable in my every day life. That’s just not who I am. I’ve had to be independent ever since I moved from Alabama to New York right out of high school. Being on your own at age 18 will teach you very quickly that you have to keep your emotions in check and always stay in control. That’s probably why I can be such a control freak at times  —  because I’ve had to do everything on my own for such a long time.

On looking good at 45:

I’m proud to be 45. I think that I look good to be this age, and I hope that I can encourage other women to own their age as well. You can look good in your forties … I just want more women to believe that.”

On feeling good about the future:

I’m so excited about the future. I feel like there’s so much more for me to accomplish. I’m so thankful to be where I am today — especially after experiencing so many highs and lows along the way. But I’m in a good place now, and I can honestly say that I have never been happier. Sometimes, I just want to freeze time and live in this moment … but I know that there are so many other things left to accomplish. And trust me, they will get done.”

Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris Covers Rolling Out Magazine In A Gold Floor Length Gown

Singer, music mogul and business woman Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris is covering the latest issue of Rolling Out. On the front cover, Tiny gets glammed-up in a gold floor length gown. Inside, she talks about being a mother, wife, business woman, evolving herself, how to keep things hot and fresh in a relationship and much more. Below are some excerpts:

In the moments leading up to ’s cover shoot with Tameka “Tiny” Harris, the talented singer, wife and businesswoman huddled in a corner with me to discuss our strategy for her photo shoot. We covered the best way for us to portray everything that she had going on in her life — from artist management to motherhood to a successful VH1 reality show.

It’s common knowledge that you have gone from being just an artist to a woman who is intimately involved in so many aspects of the entertainment industry. How do you continue to evolve and add these impressive notches to your belt?
I think a large part of it is that I actually love what I’m doing. I enjoy being behind the scenes when it comes to the music, and I think that one of my greatest achievements is creating the OMG Girlz. I say that because I built them from scratch, so seeing them evolve and grow means so much to me … it shows me that my hard work and ideas are paying off.

Being a businesswoman seems to come easy to you, but how have you balanced that with being married? After being in a longtime relationship (with rap star T.I.), has marriage changed anything?
A lot of people say that things change — and maybe my husband might say something different — but I don’t really see much of a change. I just feel like I’ve been doing some of the same things as a married woman, that I was doing years before … so it’s kind of like continuing on with the papers now. Honestly, I’m just enjoying it. I’m enjoying being called a wife, because it’s different than just being in a relationship … it feels a little better now.

Tell us about the first time you heard him call you his wife, and you were officially married. How did that make you feel?
I was kind of like ”damn, that’s me.” I felt like a lucky lady and I love it every time I hear it. It just does something to me … it sends a signal to my body and tells me to jump all over him whenever possible [laughs].

Well, it’s important to keep things hot and fresh in your relationship. Can you share some tips for other women who may struggle with how to keep things spicy in their own relationships?
You have to try new things and be open and talk about things that you’re interested in. You also have to talk about things that he’s interested in and see if you guys can come to a happy medium, and just get wild … that brings a little something extra to the bedroom.

Do you consider yourself a role model, or is that something that you don’t want any part of?
I don’t really consider myself a role model, but there are people that tell me I’m their role model. And you know what, I will accept that, and I will take it with pride. I’m grateful if anyone wants to consider me a role model. But I always want people to be better than me … if I’m doing something that you want to do in life and you feel like I’m doing good at it, that’s great … just do it better.

Rags To Riches Story: Jay-Z Covers Rolling Out

Dressed in a Brooklyn Nets cap, Givenchy tee-shirt and black jeans, rapper and music mogul Jay-Z is covering the latest issue of Rolling Out magazine. In the cover story, the publication breaks down how Jay-Z’s two-day ‘Made In America’ Festival unfolded. Below is an excerpt:

Like Rocky Balboa, Jay-Z rose from poverty to become a champion in his own right. The boy who grew up in a public housing project in Brooklyn, N.Y., and began rapping as a teenager would eventually become the master of  the music genre. Jay-Z started his own label and broke Elvis Presley’s record by releasing the most No. 1 albums (11). He aligned himself with the right business partners and opened a chain of nightclubs (The 40/40 Club). He invested in Carol’s Daughter, a popular black hair care line, and created Roc Nation. And he is part owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.

Jay-Z’s life was a million-to-one shot, but he made the best of a bad situation and rose from poverty to prosperity. He is the personification of what it means to be ‘made in America.’”

K. Michelle, Rasheeda & Karly Of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” Covers Rolling Out

R&B singer K. Michelle, rapper Rasheeda and 42-year-old aspiring singer Karly Red are covering this week’s issue of Rolling Out magazine. Just like the show, this cover looks low-budget and a HAWK mess! Did they even give the girls a stylist for this shoot or did they bring their own clothes? It is my opinion to say that K. Michelle is very talented. If she gets with the right people, she can have a bright future ahead of her. Rasheeda will never reach super-stardom. She should focus more on her family. Karly should just give it up. If you are not signed to a label at 42-year-old, chances are you’re not going to get sign. Visit Rolling Out to read some excerpts and comments.

Tika Sumpter Looks Stunning In Her Rolling Out Photo Spread; Plus She Talks About ‘Sparkle’ & Dating

Rising actress Tika Sumpter who is featured in the upcoming movie Sparkle (hit theaters tomorrow Friday August 17), did a photo spread and interview with Rolling Out magazine. Styled by Micah McDonald, Tika dressed in denim daisy dukes, tank tops, a tied-up shirt, and sweater in the DeWayne Rogers shoot. Tika has a lot of class, beauty, smile and talents. She represents the new generation of fresh Black talent in Hollywood. In her cover story, Tika talks about the different role she played, her character Delores in the movie Sparkle, the entertainment industry and dating. Below are some excerpts:

One of our first encounters with you was on “Gossip Girls.” How different was the experience of Sparkle with its all-black cast?

First off, I just want to say that I am very thankful for the opportunity that I received with “Gossip Girls.” To me though, acting is just acting. I honestly don’t like saying a black film, because on the flip side, we don’t call then white films. At the end of the day, when they say action, we all have to do the same job.

How did you channel your character Delores in the movie Sparkle?

I’m grateful to [screenwriter] Mara Brock Akil, because she expanded the role of Delores. I definitely think there is some of me in the character … she is a protector and a strong person, which mirrors my own personality a lot. The great thing about the role, is that I was able to really take chances and expand upon who Delores was in the original.

He Is Showing His Chest, Six-Pack & Abs For The Ladies: Romeo’s Shirtless Cover & Spread For Rolling Out

Is that Master P’s son? Romeo is all grown up and it looks like the older he get, the more shirtless pictures he takes. He is on his grown man and all about his business. The successful rapper, actor and ball player gets shirtless and shows his chest, six-pack and abs in the latest issue of Rolling Out. For his fashion shoot and spread, Romeo was styled by Chris Mannor. Romeo was just 12-year-old when he came into the entertainment industry. The pressure of being in this industry can be insurmountable, but somehow Romeo overcame the pressure, conquered and reached the top. He released platinum-selling albums and starred in some of the biggest movies. In the cover story, Romeo talks about coming in the industry at a young age, how he remains relevant, his acting and music career and how he makes a woman feels sexy. Below are some excerpts:

We’ve all seen how cruel the entertainment industry can be when it comes to child stars as they get older. How have you been able to remain relevant without losing focus or becoming a joke?

I think a lot of artists don’t understand the concept of change. It’s just like, life because as a kid growing up in the business, I saw my father evolve every few years. Just knowing that everything is going to change with time and nothing stays the same. I remember I used to wear baggy jeans and everybody used to have their throwback jerseys. There’s no way I would wear those kind of clothes now. But just like fashion changes, your body, mind and life change as well.

What are three things that make every woman sexy?

Education; gotta be a smart woman and independent. Good heart; everyone loves a woman who loves kids and their outlook on life is positive. You gotta know how to cook. If you don’t know how to cook then that’s a problem, especially if you’re from the South like me. And give good massages. I could keep going.

What can we expect from you as far as music is concerned?

I’m the president of the company. We’ve already sold 80 plus million records and we want to triple that. We want to make good music. When I sign somebody I look for somebody with a good heart and who wants to make a change, not necessarily perfect, but somebody like my dad, who’s not from the best neighborhood, but who wants to make a difference for their family and has that hunger. I may drop a mixtape on Twitter right before my movie opens, but y’all stay posted on that.

Meagan Good Covers Rolling Out: Talks Her Future Plans, Preacher Fiancé & Being Completely Celibate

Personally, I like and respect Meagan Good because she is a positive role model for young girls and has a lot of respect for herself. We don’t read negative stories about her in magazines or on blogs. She is not out in the public acting all crazy. She is also a devoted Christian. The 30-year-old talented actress is covering the latest issue of Rolling Out Magazine. On the front page, Meagan is wearing a nice colorful top with a pair of spiked heels. Inside, she reveals her future plans, talks about her preacher fiance, people’s perspective of  her and much more. Megan also reveals that she is now completely celibate and trying to quit smoking. Below are some excerpts:

Over the next few years, what are some of the personal and professional aspects of your life that you want to improve upon?
Well I definitely want to start making more films, and I also want to start writing and producing more. I want to create projects with my fiancé, and just help people in any way that I can. I just want to get my hands on different areas of the business, and soak in everything that God has given me a passion for. In my personal life, I just want to work on being a better person every day. Really working on quitting this smoking, and zoning in on letting go of the people who shouldn’t be in my life. I want to start focusing on spending more time with my mom, because life is short and precious. I want to be there for my younger sister, who turns 17 next month … I just really want to begin valuing more the things that are valuable to me. My focus is on giving them more attention than I have over the last couple of years. When you’re in your 20s, you’re ripping and running, and you can forget about the things that are so much more important than what you’re doing. Now that I’m 30, my mind-set has been altered in a great way, so I’m going to be focusing more on that.

Front Page: Wale Covering Rolling Out

MMG rapper Wale is in search of a Hip-Hop masterpiece on the latest issue of Rolling Out magazine. In the cover story, the D.C. native talked about the failure of his first album, Rick Ross reaching out to him, his new label, what attracts him to females and much more. Below are some excerpts:

Ambition is the desire to be better than the people who came before you. It’s your obsession to be good or great. How great is your obsession to chase your dream?”–Wale

Before the release of your first album, you built an impressive buzz for yourself. So what caused the album to fail to meet the high expectations?
I put that on myself to get back to where I need to be. We’re working. I do music for my fans and family. My fans appreciated my first album. But my label didn’t ship it for whatever reason. I re-evaluated my life and my situation and now I’m in a different place. I found out a lot of artists can’t go to a city and do a show with 2,000 people. I’m blessed to have people who appreciate what I do.

When did Rick Ross reach out to you?
The Maybach Music Group deal came about when I was a free agent. I look at Rick Ross as more than an artist. I didn’t sign to be a side kick, I want to be an artist and do what I’m capable of doing musically. Ross let’s me do that. He’s the boss at the label, but he’s not bossing me around.

So what is the biggest difference in being at MMG vs. being at Interscope?

The difference is freedom. I’m very in tune with urban culture. I felt my last situation wasn’t allowing me to grow with the urban culture. They saw a Lady Gaga opportunity and I went with it. I was a new artist and I didn’t get it. I thought I was being ignored by black America. It’s not as much money, but to connect with the people I grew up with is more important than connecting with pop fans. Even the white people who are familiar with my music deserve to hear what I’m really saying. I shouldn’t be marketed toward top 40. When I listen to my first album, you can hear who I am talking to. But I now have an opportunity to change that.

Beyond the physical, what is the most attractive thing about a woman?
I like girls who can get the intellect popping. Instead of liking me just because I rap, I like girls who can ask about where I was mentally when I thought of making a certain record. I can find a nice amount of girls who think I’m attractive or whatever, but intellect is very important. “Lotus Flower Bomb” was a record that I wanted to create a long time ago. I’m not sure if radio was ready for that at the time. That’s kind of an adult vibe. I was 23 when I was writing my first project. I was doing what I was told to do instead of doing what my heart told me to do.

Wale’s sophomore album Ambition is now available.

The Return of Happiness: Meagan Good Covers This Weeks Issue Of Rolling Out

Hollywood popular actress Meagan Good is covering this weeks issue of Rolling Out magazine. In this exclusive, and very candid interview with Rolling Out, Good talked about “The return of Meagan Good,” wanting to teach young girls, her influences, being happy and much more. Below are some excerpts:

It’s been a busy year for you, and your visibility has increased as of late. How does it make you feel when you hear people say that it’s the return of Megan Good?
I don’t feel like I ever left. I just started dabbling in different genres, movies, and going after different audiences. So maybe this is a return to the people that supported me since day one.  As you get older, you just like to approach things differently and look for different opportunities to play different characters and evolve as an artist.

You mentioned wanting to teach young girls; what would you have taught a young, 21-year-old Meagan?

I would have told her how much the Lord loves her, and how perfect she is in the Lord’s eyes. And I would have just told her to have faith and know that God is going to make everything work out. I would have told her that she shouldn’t try so hard to control her own destiny, and that she shouldn’t let people’s opinions of her make her form an opinion of herself. And lastly, I would have told her that she shouldn’t let people who are still trying to figure out life themselves, hurt her by their judgments or opinions.
