The talented Jennifer Lopez traded in her expensive heels and dresses for a boxing garb for an androgynous photo shoot, in the latest issue of V Magazine. On the cover, Jenny is wearing a boxing jockstrap and white tank-top, to evoke the theme of “that around the way girl” she carried repped throughout her career. In the cover story, it focuses on Jenny’s last few “comeback” years, her ex husband Marc Anthony and their business relationship, the differences in the Latino community and much more. Below are some excerpts:
On the differences in the Latin community.
“There are so many differences in the Latin community. Someone from Mexico and someone from Puerto Rico have different foods, different traditions,” Lopez says. “There’s an education to be had. Even as I was going through the differ- ent countries, there were certain forms of music that I didn’t know about.”
On her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
“I mean, we’re parents and friends first,” she says with a smidgen of exasperation. “That will be the thread that ties us together. I don’t know if people expect it to be negative (Of course they do, Jennifer!) just because the [intimate] relation- ship didn’t work out.” The professional relationship, however, is chugging lucratively along.
On the failure of her first fashion endeavor in the early 2000s was one of her biggest career disappointments.
“That was sad for me,” she told the New York Times last year. “I just felt like I never got a fair chance to do it right. And on top of it, I felt like I was trapped in a situation I couldn’t get out of, and my name was stamped on things that I didn’t believe in.”

In the cover story, Nicki talks about her next single “Moment 4 Life,” some of her favorite artists outside of Hip-Hop, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, what does all her success means to her and if she’s single or not. You just shot the music video for your next single “Moment 4 Life,” featuring Drake. What are you working on next?
We’re shooting the video with Rihanna for “Fly” this weekend. We’re going to save the world in more ways than one with the video and that’s all I can say about that… I love Ri-Ri! I mean, when she’s not grabbing my ass she’s a sweet girl.
Who are some of your favorite artists outside of hip hop?
I like everyone. I don’t listen to music based on genre. Like, I’ll hear a song and then I’ll live for that song for like months and I’ll be like, “Who the hell is that?” I listen to Taylor Swift. I like Coldplay. I listen to gospel a lot. I listen to anything that’s just beautiful music.
